Fourth of July

Sunbursts of red and lavender
Firecrackers, explosions
Shot into summer sky,
The night of surprise then
Your body,
Yet our love is
Not like this,
Husband, earlier
As we watched
Fireflies, lanterns
Playful forerunners
Again and again against
Dusk, your touch is
Coming to me
Love, warm
Darkness rolling in
And the moon
Deep like waves.
